About the event

Beyond Bedtime Books and DCDC are proud to present the first edition of Dormont Reads -- a summer reading battle!

First, get your team together! Find up to 5 local book nerds and sign up by clicking below!

As soon as you've registered, get reading! You can find the books however you wish, but we've worked with Jamie to create a book bundle that can be picked up at Beyond Bedtime Books starting July 1. You can purchase this bundle as you check out during registration.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow - Gabrielle Zevin

Coming-of-Age Fiction

From Goodreads: In this exhilarating novel, two friends--often in love, but never lovers--come together as creative partners in the world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality.

It Happened One Summer - Tessa Bailey

Romantic Fiction

From Goodreads: Tessa Bailey is back with a Schitt’s Creek-inspired rom-com about a Hollywood “It Girl” who is cut off from her wealthy family and exiled to a small Pacific Northwest beach town... where she butts heads with a surly, sexy local who thinks she doesn’t belong.

The Wishing Game - Meg Shaffer

Contemporary Romantic Fiction

From Goodreads: Years ago, a reclusive mega-bestselling children’s author quit writing under mysterious circumstances. Suddenly he resurfaces with a brand-new book and a one-of-a-kind competition, offering a prize that will change the winner’s life in this absorbing and whimsical novel.

The Midnight Library - Matt Haig

Science Fiction

From Goodreads: Between life and death there is a library, and within that library, the shelves go on forever. Every book provides a chance to try another life you could have lived. To see how things would be if you had made other choices . . . Would you have done anything different, if you had the chance to undo your regrets? A novel about all the choices that go into a life well lived.

The Two Lives of Lydia Bird - Josie Silver

Romantic Fiction

From Goodreads: Written with Josie Silver's trademark warmth and wit, The Two Lives of Lydia Bird is a powerful and thrilling love story about the what-ifs that arise at life's crossroads, and what happens when one woman is given a miraculous chance to answer them.

You have all summer to read -- remember, you're working as a team, so split them up in a way that works best for you! Do your best to read them all and remember as many details as you can.

On October 7, join us at the bookstore* for an evening of drinks, snacks and a good old-fashioned book quiz! We'll do a few rounds of questions based on all of the books to see who studied the hardest over the summer.   Prizes for the winner to be announced.

*We plan to be outside, but in case of inclement weather, we'll use an indoor location as a back up!
